Tape Speed HDV- It does not write the digital video files to solid state memory but instead actually has a tiny video cassette recorder on board. If the camera is in ZOOM mode, turning the silver ring can be used to manually zoom in and out. Hope this helps, for the money, I'd do this again although I did get mine on ebay with 10 hours on the drums and for 1, dollars.
